How to Increase Internet Speed Using CMD in Windows

I have described we will use CMD to increase the rate of the web. Using CMD for increasing the rate of internet is the best way because here we will just run some commands which will inevitably increase the speed of your internet to an incredible level.

Run CMD as and Administrator

First of all, you need to run CMD as an administrator. If you are using Windows 7 or 10, then click on start and type CMD right click on the Command Prompt icon when to appear and select Run as Administrator.

Run CMD as and Administrator

Check the Internet Speed Using Ping Command

Once you have launched the CMD with administrator’s rights then you have to check your internet speed using Ping command.

The ping command helps to verify IP-level connectivity. When troubleshooting, you can use ping to send an ICMP echo request to a target host name or IP address. Use ping whenever you need to verify that a host computer can connect to the TCP/IP network and network resources. Read More About Ping Command.

So, type ipconfig /all and in the command prompt and press enter key. Let the command run and then note down the default Gateway address. You can see below image to clear it.

Finding the Default Gateway address using CMD

When you have Default Gateway address you need to execute one more command to check the internet speed of your default gateway. So, type ping -t Default Gateway Address. Replace Default Gateway Address with your own address which we have found in the above step.

Finding the internet speed using CMD Command

You will see the number of bytes i.e. 32 and the time is less than one minute it means the internet speed of my computer is 32 bytes in less than one minutes. As the speed of internet is measured in bytes so it represents the results in bytes and packets of sending server. We will decrease this time to increase the internet speed.

Release the Allocated Internet Protocols (IPs) using CMD Command

When your computer is connected to the internet the IP address is allocated to your specific device and thus limits your internet speed. If we renew these IP address after periodic time then we increase our internet speed. So, we will use a very useful command to renew the IP address.
So just type ipconfig /renew and press enter.

Flush The Cached IPs and DNS

In Windows and Google Chrome, IP Addresses are automatically cached so that you can see the results fastly if you visit that site or address again and again. Sometimes these cache files are too large or too bad that they affect the internet speed of your computer. If we flush these DNS and IP Addresses and Cache files then we can experience a faster internet connection then before.
So, type ipconfig/flushdns in CMD while you are in running the CMD in administrator mode and you will see a faster experience.
